My 2 cents worth. Back in the 40’s to 60’s sears offered a Home handy man toolkit . It had a few tools and a couple of saws depending on how big your sets was. I have a couple of these little saws that I really like btw.
They weren’t collector items or even very good for that matter for the day, but they had pretty good steel by today’s standards. One of mine has a decal still intact , the other saw has no sign of the label. For what it’s worth your’s seem to be a bit smaller than mine so that other guy that said they were toys maybe right. (dunno) As far as a file you will need a 4” xx slim because the teeth are very close and small . Look at Paul Sellers website to learn how to sharpen a hand saw. Good luck.
