The split nut was so gummed up with grease and dirt that it was borderline welded to the threads by normal routing debris. I guess to combat this I’ll have to position a shop vac to suck as near to the underside of the router plate as possible. I wish the rod would come with a dust jacket similar to the ones on old school dirt bikes.

If it happens again then I’ll try plumbers tape and if that fails then my last resort will be loctite 640 sleeve retainer metal adhesive. According to saw stop- after a couple years their lowering trunion shaft has a brass bushing that hugs the actual shaft but pops out. Basically liquid welding.
