The soft/hard face hammers are a good choice for a chisel hammer. I tried several types of metal head and wooden mallets but with my tinnitus I had to go with the soft/hard face to get away from the sharp noise other hammers can make. With tinnitus, the sharp noises increase the ringing.
I found this old Ace Hardware mallet at the local Restore, bought some replacement heads for it and now it is one of my most used tools in the shop.
