Hi Dave,
You’re just a few miles (30 maybe?) up the road from me. I was planning to bike up to York tomorrow on the Rail Trail. By the way, nice work on those projects.
Your suggestion to rout and square it with a chisel sounds acceptable. You can also use the table saw with a stop cut to define your edges before routing and maybe score a few lines to make that routing easier. I’m guessing you don’t have a hollow chisel mortiser, but that would also be helpful to get the square in the corner.
