Full name of the plane is Ward’s Master Quality. I had a WW2 era #3 Ward’s Was very good user, and was the same as a Stanley made at the same time.

Red Japanning was for the Stanley Victor line of planes….right down to the chipbreaker being red. A #4 Victor would be a #1104….stamped right on the iron.

Later model, when the base was a gray colour….

Had “VICTOR” in the lever cap.

Was sold about the same time as the Stanley Defiance brand line…
