Short of some very fine abrasives you can find in the home (like toothpaste) I don’t know what you can recommend to the client (assuming he’s asking for a fix).
Depending on the style of pen you might ask him to send it to you, fix and send back if the goodwill is important (which it should be)... If it’s only a slimline… phuie!

Agree with Andybb... put it back on… and Rich, disclaimer “no rubber grips”.

For people that have a latex fetish in their pens, maybe put a Guardian in your repertoir,

(chrome Guardian with Black Palm blank) or some other pen with a rubber grip.
