Are you saying that your drill press motor isn’t working? Well, the good news is that you can put just about any motor you want on that drill press – so you are not locked into the one on there now. You certainly don’t need to go out and buy a new drill press, and the one you have is a really nice keeper. As for your motor, you really need to do a little troubleshooting first. What exactly does it do when you flip the switch? Does it move at all? Does it make any humming noise? You say you heard a rattle – which doesn’t tell us much. Are you sure it’s getting voltage when you flip the switch? Could just be a switch problem. Let us know a bit more. Fortunately, motors are pretty simple devices, so unless you let the magic smoke out of yours, you should be able to get it running again.
