Usually there is a set screw or pin you have to remove but looks in the first picture there is a hole already missing the screw? So what happens when you try to unscrew all the way? And if you look inside once open? Any screw in the back?

I think that hole is for oil, not a screw hole. Unscrewing it all the way pushes the jaws out of the chuck. With the jaws out, it is still too dark and full of rust/dirt to see much of anything. That was why I was hoping to get it apart so I could clean all that gunk out.
