Sorry, I can’t be much help here. I always just sand the wood down and oil it up for better or for worse. I’ve never tried to match the stain. I can say that there is a huge variation in the appearance of the stained wood they used over the years. So, really whatever tickles your fancy will be fine. If you really want to try to match it precisely, I’d pick up a pack of aneline dyes and make a few color mixtures and test them on a small spot as inconspicuously as possible before you completely remove all of the existing finish.
