Theres a 8 inch powermatic a couple of hours from me for sale. The asking price is $950. High considering a new Grizzly is 1450. Wondered what folks thought a resonable price would be. looks like it is in good shape. Clains it was in storage for 20 plus years.
Thanks
If it's a green powermatic USA made that's been unrestored with flat tables and fence. It's in a whole different category then grizzlies machines.
So do some homework bring a reliable straight edge check for a worn table.
If you don't want to mess with wrenching on a used machine. You should take your chances with a Chinese made jointer maybe you'll get a good maybe not.
Ugh here's another no location profile. Tom where are you located? I've got one that I'll make you a sweet deal on if you're willing to put in some work.
It's definitely in another league than the grizzly
I had a model 60 powermatic jointer in my schools classroom that was bought in 1968. It was still going strong when I retired four years ago. The students couldn't destroy it. I only replace the blades during my 40 years of teaching.

Just out of curiosity, how do you wear out a jointer table? ................. Jerry (in Tucson)
Usually with a lot of heavy use or with a power feeder. Same as wearing a hollow in a table saw top. Not very common on small 6-8" hobby sized machines.
