Learned something new today with introduction to Sphere template. So downloaded and printed off my template and will stiffen it up as recommended before use. Thanks for posting the link to it!

Only math have ever used is diameter & length done with ruler & calipers as seen in numerous articles & videos. Always leave enough waste allowance on each end to cut off or turn off when sphere completed.

Have seen this method described by other demonstrators, making different xmas ornaments.

Biggest hurdle to overcome turning spheres regardless of size is uniformity! Old exercise of turning a row of beads or spheres as demonstrated by Raffan and other turners offers a great challenge whether they come out with uniformity!

This one of my first attempts at a sphere, ended up a dog toy cannot tell you how many times changed th line but all but few of my puppies love it!
Next came ornaments of all kinds.
