Glen wrote this back in 2009, so it doesn't cover anything but the Festool, DeWalt, and Makita. I bought a year or two before this came out, and I went with the DeWalt. Maybe this has changed since them, but back then only the DeWalt could lock, on a DeWalt track so it could not be pulled, or coast backward. It has a locking device the others didn’t have, So I bought the DeWalt. Back then I was doing a lot of doors, and it was faster to trim door openings out, and a lot smoother than other saw choices. It was actually what got me owning one initially.. The clamps, and the no slide on the saw made hanging it on a door opening safe, and easy enough to do. Once in a while it hung for other cuts as well, but usually doors. I also liked that I got both the shorter 4’+ track, and the longer 8’+ track, so I could cut length, or width of a sheet of? Tracks going either direction, in tight areas that is a good deal, no flipping needed. I don’t know of one sooner that is worth much, so most of the varied others aren’t reviewed, or compared. Good basic comparative info on top sellers. -- Think safe, be safe |
