Patrick – the box stores have their own brand name.
(my Lowe’s carries several different brands other than Valspar).
I would use a good primer and the latex or acrylic semi-gloss
door & window paint. it is easier to keep clean than the basic wall paint.
some of the door and window paints can be colored and some can’t.
so ask the paint technician at the store you shop at if you do not want
the standard white color.
(I am only assuming that you are also using plywood panels: if you are using
something else, you need to elaborate on the wood you are using).
Edit: do not use Valspar “The Perfect White” Paint + Primer paint (sold only in a gallon can).
that stuff takes a week to dry and will get “slimy” if exposed to really high humidity.
being a long time painter, I am having a very hard time accepting the new paints that say
“Paint and Primer” in the same can. I know it is the EPA that is making the unrealistic
demands on paint manufacturers, but I avoid that stuff as much as possible.
whenever possible, I try to use the appropriate primer with the paint without the added primer.
