The Veritas Low Angle spokeshave looks like a winner to me. Innovative design with a fixed blade, but a moving sole that can be reversed to allow both a flat and a curved sole, it is an improvement over the Stanley design (Kunz and others copy this). Although not as esthetically pleasing as the LN Brian Boggs, Dave’s shaves, Kansas City Windsor, HNT Gordon or even Veritas’ wooden handled offering it has increased utility and is significantly less expensive. Plus it would be the perfect partner with the Veritas Shoulder Plane I know you (and I) are fond of.

I had one ordered last weekend, but when the wife reminded me NOT to go off on a tool buying jag with Christmas coming I cancelled (first year of marriage I bought a printer for myself, when there was one already to be placed under the tree, significantly Scroogeing that Xmas). Maybe if I was good this year, I might get one – or if the Planets align just so a Worksharp.

-- "Bordnerizing" perfectly good lumber for over two decades.
