I bought the makita 2012, and am happy with it. Makita is much more popular name-brand here in Spain; Dewalt are US imported, so more expensive.

I think the “decibels” thing is more marketing than anything else, you still need hearing protection, and when the machine is cutting its still loud enough for the neighbors to take notice.

The anti-snipe mechanism works very well, and that was a factor for me to buy this machine. But the most important factor was that eventhough there are only 2 cutters, you can rotate them and get twice as much cutting per set; whereas with the dewalt Im not sure this is the case?
