The answer is “Yes, this is original paint”. After quite a bit of searching, found two identical breast drills, both bearing well worn dark green paint on the gear wheel and pad. (All bear the “Patented Jan 21st 1890” inscription) for sale on line. Additionally ran across at least one more on YouTube, so at four for four, it seems pretty safe to say this is original paint.

BTW, Also found out that Stanley used a lighter green paint on some of it’s “Sweetheart” breast drills, just so y’all know this information. No one wants to paint over it, thinking it’s a wrong color repaint….. 8^)
