It’s amazing what a bit of fine sawdust, old oil, and just a bit of rust can do to a moving part. There are probably as many fixes for this as members here. I use this. Really low impact, I wash it off with MS, after a few days the petro smell is gone.

I know a guy who does antiques for a living, he has numerous 5 gallon pails mostly full of Kerosene. Low flash point, yet very potent cleaner, if dunked, sunk, and left for a day or 3. He does wood, metal, everything. Usually a 3 day turn around, and stuff comes out clean, and ready for use. Remove, and wash off with Mineral Spirits. Once out for a few days, no notable odor. People laugh. Google it.
