Can you add a metal strip that would attach vertically from the bottom cabinet to the top cabinet in the back?

^^^ This is how I’ve seen it done on many pieces of furniture. To some degree, sure you could grab the front of the bookcase and make it move a bit. Maybe only before books get put on it. But so what. Client wants stone top, this is the VERY small price they pay. And if you didn’t tell them, they’d never question it or have any problem with it.

Of course this assumes you can access the back and secure it, before you install it.

I also agree that you could add a dab of some adhesive to further secure it. And if the bookcase can be secured to the wall, like a wall cabinet, then I see no reason to attach it to the base cabinet.
