I do, but as has been said, you have to be extremely diligent in finding hidden nails. I’ve thought I’ve gotten them all and then caught one in the planer. This is the primary reason why I went with a Cutech planer with the “spiral” blades…it’s easy and relatively cheap to swap out a single little square when I do miss a nail.

I use a “pallet buster” to break pallets down and then pound the nails out by hand. That’s the single most tedious task, as the pallet buster makes disassembly quick and easy.

I only use hardwood pallets, though I have used pine for shop shelves, etc.

I used to preserve the “character” of this reclaimed wood, but recently I’ve been milling it heavily until you wouldn’t know it’s from pallets, aside from the occasional nail hole.
