A fellow Tucsonan! Yeah, Grant Road Lumber closed years ago. Woodworker’s Source is definitely a good place. The fact that they will cut your lumber and plywood for you will make it easier to manage even without a truck. The first cut is free. If you want your plywood cut into smaller pieces requiring multiple cuts, they’ll start charging, but I don’t think it’s over a buck or two.

Also, Hood Distribution down on S. Toole is an excellent source. They have a huge inventory and much better prices than Woodworker’s Source. They will cross cut lumber for you, but they do not cut sheet goods. Very friendly there too.

Since 5×5 Baltic Birch won’t fit even in my wife’s Infinity SUV, what I do is take my cordless Milwaukee circular saw and a couple of squares of rigid insulation and cut it myself right there. They allow that.
