Almost 20 years ago, I had a Ridgid DC that was smaller than the HF 2 HP DC but it worked great. I’d buy it again in heartbeat but it’s no longer available. I had a manifold with blast gates attached to the wall next to it with 4” hoses going to a few different machines and some had reducers to smaller machines and it worked well. One divorce later, it’s all gone and I had to start over with many tools and thus my situation.

You will need a minimum of 4” pipe or hose to get effective dust collection for short runs. 6-8” for longer runs. You cannot reduce below 4” at any point. You could take a 2 hp fan and motor, mount on the wall near the ceiling and pull thru a cyclone and vent outside.

I don t agree completely. I have a manifold connected with 4” hose, but a lot of my tools have a 2-1/2” port and are connected to the manifold with a hose that size. I ve been pretty happy with the results.

Also, venting to the outside will get pretty expensive in heated or air conditioned space if you run the DC much.
