Anthony, you could use an Arbourtec Carving Disc that fits on a standard grinder.
You can do serious cuts down to fine cuts then belt sand the rest.

Thanks Tony , yes Interesting, I,ve been chatting to RobCastle about them also.
At the moment I,m just trying to compare the two Arbourtec products . Turbo Planer here verses The wood carver “here
Im not sure which is better, Im thinking the turbo plane is a newer product and seems to be a bit finer.
