It seems like I’ve heard that you have to use a variable frequency drive (VFD) to make an induction motor variable speed. By the time you add that you could get yourself a good slow speed grinder plus a few other tools to go with it. You can probably sell your old ginder for a few bucks to help offset the cost of the new grinder.

You can probably use your regular grinder but you have to use a light touch and frequent breaks to prevent overheating, though I don’t know if there are any other problems with the CBN with higher speed.
