Ed, only vent outside if your shop is an unconditioned somewhat open space. SDD won t be mentioned on there, keep reading if you haven t seen already the only commercially available cyclone of Pentz s design is from clearvue cyclones. You ll be happy with the SDD XL and Wynn filters I suspect but do your own homework on duct size, type, machine fittings, etc. Or wear a respirator for fine dust and let the collector get the chips. I m building a 5hp cyclone from Pentz s design. Have the 16” impeller from clearvue and a 5hp motor, just have to get the cyclone itself built. Won t be too much longer!

Thanks Grant. I have commandeered our garage, which is oversized with an exterior door to rear, and live in N. Texas. I like the idea of getting fine dust out of space. Bill seems to say venting outside is always better if an option, but mother nature does her thing with temps and pollen. However a Wye with gates to outside and filter stack really does seem best of all. 6” snap is quite affordable and im understanding better the need to keep runs 6” instead of 4” and use 45s instead of 90s.
