My original 16/32 belt was always a pain to adjust, but with lots of tweaking I was finally able to get it running true. The seam was giving me grief when sanding boards where I wanted a dead flat surface end to end. The seam being slightly thicker was leaving a divot (a lot like the usual snipe problems) if it passed under the drum while sanding.

Eventually I bought a “plastic” replacement belt without the glued seam. Setup was easy and the seam problem disappeared. When clean, it gives a better trip on the boards versus the original belt, but with any dust it gets a bit slippery. I’ve learned to keep downward pressure on the board as it passes through (simple enough) and all is well.

If the board slips while feeding (stalls), it will show a small divot where the drum removed the extra material.

The plastic belts were not cheap (about $60 on Amazon maybe 8 years ago), but well worth it for my uses.
