I can’t answer your question directly, but I have a couple of comments. First, I inspected the Jet 12” combo at my local dealer’s showroom. I was not overly impressed. The machine seemed a little rough and the change-over was not as smooth as I would have liked. While I was thinking about it, I was offered a little-used Hammer A3-31 12” jointer planer for a great price. I jumped on it. The Hammer is a serious machine, very well built with plenty of power and it operates like a dream. In my view there was no comparison between the Hammer and the Jet. The Hammer wins hands down.

Your perception of the Hammer being a “high end” industrial machine is not quite accurate. Hammer is made in Austria by the Felder machine company. It is their “low end,” light industrial/serious hobby shop shop model. Their high end machine is the Felder model at several thousand Dollars more expensive than the Hammer. Nevertheless, the Hammer is the best serious hobby shop machine I’ve seen and well worth the $$$. I have been very happy with mine.

I know nothing about the Robland jointer/planer.
