The dealer closest to me, and a guy that I use to price woods for a quoted job says. 4/4 Walnut Prime $7.50 That would be all heartwood, zero knots, and at least 8’ long, usually 12, to 16’ is the norm. This doesn’t even come close to the price differences of kiln dried. Being 6 months from wet, his prices are crazy sounding, for a what may someday be, kind of fantasy.

If I want to drive a little further I can go to a huge supplier on the Ohio, Indiana border and buy cheaper, and probably as good quality wise, but I can go to the local guy, buy, and be back home, before I get to the big place.

To be honest, on a seller where I had to do any driving, and wasn’t positive of the quality of the wood, I wouldn’t leave the driveway, unless the guy was talking about 2 to 3 bux a bd/ft. Been burned too many times.

The pics in his ad are edge to edge on a pallet. Maybe he has different sized pallets, but it looks to be square, so that would mostly mean those pics are 4’ long, even if it was perfect to look at, he can’t grade it more than No. 1 Common, simply due to shorties. So again going against “normal” grading he’s talking out a rubber wazoo for his price. Those pallets of green wood remind me of the pallet makers down in Kentucky, where you can buy a skid stacked like that for around 75 bux for green wood.

You would be better served to contact a good seller, and have the wood shipped if that is the best game you have. I had thought that Kansas was a great place for Walnut. I know in the past I’ve heard a few guys bragging that anyhow.
