No need to, just do the end grain first. Then when you come across the long grain if there was any blowout you’ll chop it off. Problem comes with doing faces first, because likely you are looking at one to start, then when you wrap around to the end grain you’ll get blowout. Not always, but often enough to always ends first, then finish the fronts and backs last. You can just use a few pieces of scrap to see what I am saying.
