I sort of had this same question a few weeks ago. After checking out some fences in person, IMO, the fence on the jobsite SawStop is better than many “contractor” saws. Looking at that, the great reviews, and the added bonus of not cutting my finger off (being a noob), I spent the $1300 on this saw and couldn’t be happier.

Ripping a 2” thick, 36” long maple board into a straight piece was cake and I felt much better that if something went sideways, I was safe.
