This is a great post-Cricket thanks for posting this, I have a relative that used this approach to help others.

Today, I am grateful for my commute!

Many of you know that I have an awful commute. On good days it is an hour and a half each direction. Yesterday was the most amazing day! It took me 2 and a half hours!!!

I loved every second of that ride home and here is why.

I had a meeting at work – nothing new there. They fed us an amazing lunch – also standard.
Yesterday I claimed the leftovers – 3 full trays of sandwiches, a tray of cookies, and one of chips.

I took the long way home and passed out all of that beautifully catered food to the homeless people that I usually drive by on my way home.

I stopped men and women pushing shopping carts, I knocked on tents pitched in the park, a tapped the shoulders of people sleeping on benches and on the sidewalk.

The gratitude expressed to me makes me tear up even now.

The truth is, I got much more from them than they got from me. Then it got even better when I shared my adventure with my kids. Next time – and there will be a next time- I think I will go home and pick the kids up first so that we can do it together.
