I once had a giant roll of plastic bubble wrap (1” bubbles) leftover from a project. I kept that stuff around for at least four years.
One particular day, I decided I was tired of it being in my garage and was never going to need it, so, I threw it out.

A week later, I paid $75 for a new roll because my wife took on a project that needed it.

Murphy reigns supreme in these matters.
