I think it was the last Fine Woodworking podcast (or a recent one in any event) where they were discussing that MDF does move with moisture. The comment was made in the context of most folks not knowing this. Surprised me.

I don t use it much, so couldn t say for sure.

Yes, MDF does expand and contract, but it does it in a uniform fashion. I found this out when I installed some wainscotting I made out of 1/2” MDF. It meant I spent a fair bit of time going back and touching it up, but it’s still better than using pine.
