Lot of ways a woodturner can deal with shallow or deep cracks in surface of the turning. While CA glue is great for sealing cracks you have to turn or sand away any excess while still on the lathe.

Filling cracks made a lot easier if use combination of fill & CA glue. Choice all about matching wood color or using contrasting colors. Fill can be anything from saw dust, new or used goffee grounds, green or herbal teas.
Old metal shavings, minerals or stone often used for contrasting colors.

I use an electric coffee grinder to grind further any fill will use. In-expensive under $20 or used grinder will work well whether electric or hand crank models. Have never used metal, mineral, or stone for fill.

Fill the crack flush before applying CA for shallow cracks. May take couple applications of fill & CA glue for deep cracks.

Only real secret is take your time!
