Haven’t been on the site in a while
1. Why build instead of buying- I love woodworking and if I bought wooden replacements it would cost about 10k, I can build them myself and have them installed for about 6k
2. Why wood, wooden windows are required by HOA
3. Bald cypress, new growth is ok but will rot when exposed to direct sunlight old growth is much better.
4. The ones that I’m replacing were built (very poor craftmanship) out of Spanish Ceder and rotted in 12yrs, that’s why I asked about an alternative
5. As for wood being used in Louisiana, in the past Cypress, Spanish Ceder and long leaf pine were often used.
