My guess is that you’re asking all lot of the process: while I’m sure there are creative people out there (in TV land) that have done this, I don’t know them. I’ve seen videos of schedule 40 or sch 80 pvc pipe connected to a steam source; then a quick scurry to a form; then a faster scurry to get the clamps engaged.

I’ll offer a different thought – just because I haven’t been helpful yet – rip the board into 1” (approximate) slats, then miter the slats to conform to your form – I do this for rocking chair headrests. Once the glue dries, you can use an angle grinder (I do) or other sanding device to smooth the piece.

If you are at-all interested in this kind of workaround, I’ll be glad to go into more detail.
