I say…tear it all down to individual components! ‘O what fun you will have!
I’ve done it on 4 heavy duty machines so far, one was my 8” GeeTec dovetail way jointer. Well, it came in pieces and I had to order some replacements but still!
I vote, tear it down and rebuild.

There are slight differences with these 80’s cloned 8” jointers. Loma Tools told me Jet & Grizzly parts (handwheel rod thread) would not work. I do have a PDF around here somewhere if you think the GeeTech is similar to your’s.
