Major weather disaster

I live in Ottawa and we just had not one, but two major tornadoes touch down on Friday evening. Fortunately, I live several miles away from the areas that got hit, but my area just got power back today (Sunday) late in the evening.

The area that was the worst hit looks like a war zone, and one of the people I work with lives there. I have no idea what happened to his house. Nobody was killed in either tornado, but so many people's lives have been just torn apart.

Seems like weather is making headlines a lot more than it ever did when I was a kid all those years ago. I've been close to an area with a couple of deadly tornadoes, and I don't want any part of them. There are parts of the country where they are seen a lot more than other places. Not sure what the motivation is to keep living there?

Rain, Flooding, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Volcanoes, kinda has a biblical feel to it, but it may be nothing more than world wide news flashing around the globe in a second or 3. We know about everything now.

Glad you re OK and no one perished.

Thanks Rich, I was actually in an area that didn't get hit too badly. However, it's fortunate that everyone survived. I heard some stories on the radio that made me shiver.

Steve, there are a number of reasons you hear about it more, such as more people living in areas where few people used to live. It is also likely reported more often. Still, there is reason to believe things are getting worse weather wise. I've never heard of the eastern seaboard being hit so early in hurricane season. And last year the hurricane season was nuts. It's not easy to say why.

A tornado is bad enough, but when you get hit by one in an area that is generally not noted for it that is especially bad. We had a bad one go thru this area several years ago. Last one on record was like 100 years prior. Many houses and businesses got destroyed. We were very lucky it didn't kill anyone. Glad to hear no one was seriously injured. Stay safe!!!!
