That is a great starting point, we got the blacksmithing bug from a Renaissance faire of all places and took a knife making class from the blacksmith we met there. We are fortunate to have several places in our area that do classes and a fairly active blacksmithing community. My son and I have taken a few classes now and occasionally pull the forge out to the driveway and attempt to make something. Not always successful, but always fun. My son worked for over a year to save up for the gas forge, anvil, tongs and hammers. The local club has a swap meet in October so we hope to pick up some more tooling.
