I can’t speak for your saw, but I just refurb’d an old Craftsman belt/disc sander with the same deal. I could push them onto the shaft with my hand. This was with the original bearings or the new ones, and I checked different unused spots along the axle to see if it had lost any diameter in the bearing area and it hadn’t, so the slip fit must have been like that since it was born.

Per recommendations, I ended up going with some loctite “retaining compound”. I used the 680, but I believe the 609 would have been the appropriate one for you and I.

PS- It would be funny if it’s from the same stock. This thing’s supposed to be for a 1/2” inside bore, but the shaft is a few thou too small.
