They have been swapping out a lot of the old lines with these Hercules, and Bauer tools, probably replacing with something like that, or they just found that they didn’t sell.

HF is a company stepping out of the junk tool market, or at least trying to.

Not sure what the machines were by the numbers you left, but their green bench top mortiser, didn’t have tables or anything of legend, but the arm did allow you to impart some down pressure, just like with any mortiser.

My theory on mortisers is it’s not so much about the machine, unless work holding is your biggest priority, it’s on the chisels, and are they sharp. So a cheap HF mortiser can cut mortises just as nice as any other provided you spend a few bux on some good chisels, and keep them sharp. The chisels they come with are Crapola, and the steel sux, and will not hold an edge.

LV sells some chisels that are quire nice, and tools to keep them sharp.
