I have a line on a Delta 34-444 contractor saw. However, it doesn’t come with a motor. I happen to have a motor from a craftsman 113/315 collecting dust in my garage. Any idea if the 113 motor would fit the Delta?

Many contractor saws use a standard 3450RPM TEFC motor on a NEMA 56 frame. Don’t know for sure, but I suspect this Delta is no different. If the motor bracket/plate is there, all you need is a motor with the above specs. Take a look on the motor plate for the one you have, and it should give you the frame type.

You could also “go big” and get a Leeson/Baldor 2hp which would likely be better than the original motor…but it’s going to run you $300-400. Alternatively you can find Chinese knockoffs for closer to $200 around the web (eBay, etc.). Durability may be questionable, but you’d still be making sawdust.
