The motor mounts to a plate that is attached to the saw frame with a hinge. The weight of the motor is what provides the belt tension.

The critical component is that plate. If it’s missing, then you’ll have no choice but to buy a replacement (yeah, maybe you could rig something with plywood, but I wouldn’t risk it). As for the motor, assuming it has a base and can be bolted to a flat surface, it’ll work fine. Like Tony said, you might have to drill some holes, but it’ll work.
