Hey Dave thanks for checking in.

If you looked at the bottom of my post you will see I have already taken your advice.

I have a 28 inch Oregon bar and ripping chain. If this were a smaller diameter piece of wood I’d be more comfortable. The 28 inch bar is about 8 inches more than the saw is recommended to use. As you know cutting the tree across the grain goes easier than cutting along the grain.

It was suggested this would Yield 100 board ft, and I have 12 inch diameter branches.

Looking for a way out and called the local mill guy as soon as the logs hit my parking area, which was two months ago.
