Depends on what you used to paint the baseboard. If it’s just wall paint, it may have a property called “blocking”. This is when objects in contact with the paint actually stick to it, either holding them in place, or peeling the paint off when you pick them up. If the baseboard paint is an oil based paint, it may leave an odor in the closet for a while (but probably won’t have the blocking issue. The best choice (and maybe what you used on the baseboards) would be a 100% acrylic paint. it will be relatively odor free, dry quickly, and not have the blocking attributes.
