Thanks everyone for the input. After a lot of bickering with myself I think I am NOT going to get the mortiser at this point. Without it the only additional step I need to take is to round the tenons which is about an extra minute in the process for each. A file or sharp chisel seems to make quick work of it and will build my chiseling skills which I have not spent much time developing. The router jig cuts clean precise mortises albeit with rounded ends. At this point it seems a minor inconvenience. Gonna spend $10 at Lowes for a dovetail saw. I can then use the same process as in the build video and just round the edges of the tenons.

Although I reserve the right to change my mind later today. :-)
