The Rockler Jig Sold.

The upgrades to the Byrd Shelix were EASY!!!!! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Jointer was a piece of cake. Unhook the drive belt and take the unit off of the stand. Lower the in-feed and out-feed tables enough to sneak the cutter head out. Then you have two options: Pop off the old bearings (PB Blaster to loosen them up) or purchase new ones. I purchased new ones because my luck has been limited with bearings. Put the whole unit back together and your in business.

As for the DeWalt Byrd Shelix the Byrd website has great directions and the bearings come with the cutter head. Just buy yourself a nice set of snap ring pliers that both compress and open up the rings. The Lisle company makes a great pair for a fair price.

Both machines run smoothly and the sound…or lack there of is INCREDIBLE! My DeWalt planer is now the quietest tool in the shop. The difference is amazing!

@ Joe = New knives cost $35 a set, How does $80 shipped for all 3 sets sound?
