You ll generally get better stock from a 2×12 than a 2×8, let it dry a nice long time and there shouldnt be much movement when you cut it. A little bow won t hurt anything, the box construction of the leg will pull it out.

Thanks for the tip. I will use a 2×12. A 10’ long piece of 2×12 will supply all I need for 4 legs. As I mentioned before, this is for a small workbench that will be used for hobby use, like building models, not for heavy pounding on. Once done, it will probably go into the house and sit in a corner. All heavy woodworking is done outside in my 1200 sf shop.
