There is a chrome extension out there called “Photobucket embed fix” and through some trickery, it sees a photobucket embed link and changes the referrer. Long story short, some of the pictures appear.

So, using the Chrome browser (free from google.com), look under settings and find extensions, and search for the Photobucket embed fix extension. Install it, and you may be able to see the photos!

Hi PCD, There is nothing better than to “out crook’ a crook. I for one appreciate the heads-up, however, I fear that this may only be a temporary work around.

Usually, when one finds a crack, “shady tradies” (and I tar PhotoBucket with the same brush) will paint over it and charge double. Unfortunately this fix will only encourage people to continue using PhotoBucket and when they develop a block (and at $500 per customer I’m sure they’ll be anxious if/when they discover this work around), by then they will have move victims they could potentially blackmail.

What we all should do is set up dummy posts and with the fix an inundate their (PB’s) traffic with overloads as retribution… Problem is, that would affect the innocent users that were blackmailed into an unwanted license.

I personally think that a company like PB, that attempts to blackmail their clients, is not worth pissing on and I would begrudge them any further waste of my precious time…

PS. Just a word of caution. Be aware that if you use the fix, PB have your details and with their money grabbing attitude be prepared to face repercussions… The fact that Google supplied the fix would not make me feel overly comfortable about their (Google’s) unquestionable support under potential adversity.

PPS.” Sorry new’butcher*, for the digression form you great work.

As an aside, at least here at LJ, you can upload your pictures direct without going through a middleman. For other sites and personal use, you can then reference/link your LJ site and screw PB up their chocolate-starfish. Only downside is that your picture posts are reduced in size.
