The web version stinks. If you are just starting out to learn it, you might want to consider also trying Autodesk Fusion 360. It is free for hobbyist and businesses with < $100k revenue (I think that is the number). Might be a little more complex to learn but also more powerful. It is also harder to learn Fusion after you have mastered Sketchup, for me anyway.
