Horsepower must make some kind of difference, or:

1) The big boys (factories) wouldn’t be using huge motors to run their much larger cyclones.

2) I would get rid of my two 3 horse units and my one 2 horse unit and go back to the little 1 horse Delta I gave my buddy.

Keep in mind the run cycle of your collectors. If you are going to be turning them off and on many times a day, it can be hard on some systems. That seems to, especially, apply to 3 horse and up units.

All that aside, do both units call for the same size piping? If one calls for more air at the same flow rate as the smaller one, you may need more umph to move it.
